    Official teams and support staff

    Working closely with PNG’s Host City Manager for the Rugby League World Cup, PNG Immigration and Citizenship Service Authority will be facilitating visas for players, coaches, technical staff, journalists, marketing and media that form part of an official team.

    Rugby League World Cup supporters

    Other travellers, who do not form part of the official team, can utilise the existing visitor visa on arrival facility which does not attract a visa fee. 

    On arrival these travellers will receive a single entry visa valid for 60 days, with the exception of Australian passport holders who will be issued with a 30 day visa. 

    To access the visa on arrival facility, travellers must hold a valid passport, with at least 6 months validity, from one of the following countries:

  • Journalists and Media Personnel
  • Journalists/Media who do not form part of an official team are not eligible for a designated Event Visa. They should seek a journalist visa through a PNG Embassy or High Commission. They must include approvals from both the PNG Department of Prime Minister and PNG Department of Foreign Affairs which can be arranged by writing to:

  • In addition to the completed entry application and journalist fee, the following should also be included:

    ·         A support letter from your current employer, addressed to PNG Immigration and Citizenship Authority,

    ·         Approval letter from the Departments of Prime Minister & NEC and DFA

    ·         Approval letter from the National Film Institute (Filmmakers only)

    ·         Copy of passport biodata page, and

    ·         Supplementary Health Form

    The prescribed Migration Service Fee of PGK1000 is to be paid at the time the application is lodged.  The entry permit application and supplementary health form can be found at www.immigration.gov.pg

  •   

    A journalist visa for a person seeking to cover the Rugby League World Cup will be valid for single entry for a maximum stay of sixty (60) days.
